Metal containers with the Galician seal for the automotive industry
Errecé Láser (Santiago de Compostela) is a third-generation family business with more than 80 years of history in the industry. Over this time, they have worked in various sectors, such as manufacturing agricultural machinery, producing metallic components and, more recently, they have been pushing towards offering metallic packaging solutions for the automotive industry.
"We have been supplying serial parts to the automotive industry for over 20 years. It was these customers, leading multinationals who have been familiar with our expertise for a long time, who invited us to send them, in addition to the parts, the containers in which they arrived. This is how we began to develop this new family of products, which in recent years has been gaining more and more presence in our business," explains Xan Rey, the company's project manager.
In the past year, Errecé has made a great effort to adapt to the sector's increasing demand, both now and in the future. Significant investments have been made to renew existing machinery or to give the company greater capacity, such as acquiring new means for laser tube cutting or the automisation of welding operations. These additions have allowed the company to increase its manufacturing capacity from approximately 300 containers per month to 1,500.
"We are driving growth in the production of both standard and specific packaging, and to this end we have been strengthening our presence in foreign markets for some time now. We participate as exhibitors in numerous international trade fairs, especially in Germany, which is our target market", explains Rey.
In addition to this effort, we have recently opened a sales office in Cologne to be closer to the decision-making centres of our customers, known in the sector as Tier1, which are the suppliers of large assembly plants such as Stellantis or Volkswagen.
Errecé Láser has been one of the companies benefiting from the Galicia Avanza programme, the accelerator initiative promoted by the Xunta de Galicia from the Technology Park (San Cibrao das Viñas, Ourense), precisely because of its interest in establishing this new product line in other countries and speeding up the transition so that both current and potential customers would know them as container suppliers. "With the help and advice of the programme, we adapted our corporate image to international markets, hired specific staff focused on export work, revamped the website, launched promotional campaigns on the networks and incorporated tracking technologies in the containers," he says.
Innovation plays a key role at Errecé Laser, which is also applied to this new product line. "To offer packaging solutions to specific problems, we must offer alternatives for the geographical location of containers, the electronic identification of their cargo or even the use of stronger and lighter materials. Constant innovation is what allows us to continue in this line," concludes Xan Rey.
