An open door to design and innovation
Based in Cerceda (A Coruña), Indupanel is Spain's leading manufacturer of aluminium and PVC door panels. Innovation applied to design has been one of the levers of its growth and international expansion, currently reaching a turnover of 20 million euros and 35,000 doors manufactured each year
The exterior door panel is the first thing you see when you arrive at a house. It is the letter of introduction, the sign of identity of a house. Design, personalisation and quality play a fundamental role when it comes to choosing one or the other.
Fully aware of this, research and innovation in new designs and materials, together with a commitment to excellence and customer service, were from the outset the main commitments of Indupanel, a company founded by Antonio Rey, Eva Balado and Fernando Borrazás in the year 2000. They started their business initiative based on standard products that were already on the market, but soon realised that the key to their competitiveness was to have a differential, innovative catalogue that provided added value to their customers, mainly profiled carpentry.
"We started in Galicia and gradually opened up the market in the rest of Spain and abroad, focusing above all on excellent customer service and adaptation, customisation and marketing exclusive models with our own designs," explains Antonio Rey, partner and head of the sales department. "Before, the doors were only made of aluminium and PVC. We have been mixing new materials, such as natural stone, stainless steel, imitation wood, etc. We've always been a reference for design", he continues.
This extensive catalogue of innovative products, with more than 500 designs, was also the best boost to export. Currently, with a turnover of 20 million euros, a workforce of around a hundred people and 15,000 square metres of modern facilities in the O Acevedo industrial estate (Cerceda), they are the leading panel factory in Spain and the third largest in Europe, with sales to various countries such as Portugal, France, the United Kingdom, Belgium... They are also beginning to take their first steps on the other side of the Atlantic, in Latin America and the USA.
Coinciding with their 20th anniversary, in 2020 they launched a full new door system called Doorblock, a high-end product that combines design and high security for the main doors of homes and that provides a solution to the demands of their customers. "This is where we want to make more strength when it comes to growth because we have very exclusive, modern and unique designs in the market", explains Antonio Rey. They will support this commitment with an investment in technology and machinery and a complete visibility plan, which includes participation in the main European trade fairs in the sector, including Fensterbau Frontale, to be held in Nuremberg (Germany) in 2024.
Thanks to its innovative efforts, key to its positioning in the market, Indupanel was one of the success stories included in the Programme to Boost Innovation in SMEs, launched by the Galician Innovation Agency.
