Promoting innovation and design among Galician SMEs

With a budget of 4.5 million euros, Xunta de Galicia launches the new edition of InnovaPeme and DeseñaPeme programmes, which aim to boost the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Galician SMEs, especially those less innovative and from traditional sectors, find in the calls InnovaPeme and DeseñaPeme the boost they need to make the leap to innovation and bet on design as a tool for competitiveness, thus responding to the needs that the current market demands.

Specifically, DeseñaPeme is oriented towards innovation focused on products, services and experiences, as well as brand and identity; while InnovaPeme is focused on innovation in processes and organisation.

Through these two programmes, Xunta de Galicia seeks to promote the culture of innovation, increasing the number of companies that are considered innovative and promoting the collaboration of small and medium-sized companies with the rest of the agents in the ecosystem. It also seeks to promote the commercialisation of R+D+I results, to gradually include process and organisational innovation in the Galician business fabric and to increase spending on R+D and innovative activities.

In this call, 60 design and innovation plans in SMEs are expected to be financed, with a mobilisation of 9 million euros, which will be added to the 246 actions already supported in previous editions, with a public-private investment of close to 40 million euros.

One of the main novelties is that, for the first time, non-profit third social sector entities and ITC companies are included as possible beneficiaries. Indirect costs are also included as eligible for funding, and the presentation of various dissemination activities is included as a requirement in order to better reach society and serve as an example for other SMEs.

The finance budget must be between 50,000 and 150,000 euros for each plan, so that the same SME applying for both calls can invest up to 300,000 euros. The aid will have an intensity of 50% and will be granted through the competitive concurrence procedure.

Companies located in an enterprising municipality in Galicia will receive additional points in the evaluation process.

The deadline for applications will remain open until 14 August 2023.
