Enercraft's story is that of a journey of entrepreneurship and innovation through different countries until finally landing in Galicia to promote its business model.

It was originally born in Argentina, where a clear technological need was identified, related to the lack of ground support energy equipment for aircraft, which were reliable and delivered energy efficiently and safely to different models of helicopters and airplanes. After years of work, and after starting commercial actions and achieving sales of the first products in different countries of the region, such as Argentina, Chile, Uruguay or Bolivia, they decided to internationalize the company, building Enercraft Canada in 2018. In 2020, and after a forced temporary closure due to the global pandemic, they agreed the definitive closure of the said headquarters and the strategic opening of a new startup based in Galicia, specifically in Cambados. "This new entity assumes all the company's R&D&I activities, as well as full responsibility for the production and commercial activity, serving, since its incorporation, as the sole manufacturing and international distribution center for our products," explains Alberto Jurjo Costa, founding partner of the company. At present, 95% of its production is exported to different regions of the world, with customers in 15 countries, mainly in Latin America, North America, Europe and the Middle East.

Clean and sustainable energy

Enercraft specializes in the development of portable energy storage solutions and all associated power electronics. "We are a very innovative and unique company in the European Union for the type of technology we use, being the first manufacturers of hybrid batteries for aviation, combining high quality lithium cells with ultracapacitors, which are used by our customers for special applications, where there are high power requirements," says Jurjo Costa.

For several years they have been commercializing in the aeronautical industry the so-called Ultra-Starters, portable devices used to start helicopter and airplane engines; and the GPUs Lite, portable external energy sources used to power aircraft during maintenance tasks or for operational purposes. "Both products are substitutes for the traditional generator sets used in this industry, which run on fossil fuels and cause noise, fumes, odors and polluting gas emissions. Enercraft offers a clean and sustainable alternative, valid for multiple applications", he explains.

The company recently decided to pursue a strategy of product portfolio diversification, adapting its technology to develop new technological solutions in other sectors that are also committed to sustainability and energy transition: construction, naval, defense, emergencies, electric mobility, renewable energies and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Boosting the Business Factory Aero

In 2022, Enercraft was one of the companies participating in the fourth edition of the Business Factory Aero, the accelerator of projects in the aerospace sector promoted by the Xunta de Galicia. The objective of its passage through the program was to focus on the development of a comprehensive energy management and data monitoring solution to optimize the use and extend the life of unmanned vehicle batteries. "This segment has an exponential growth, so it represents a very large business opportunity for our company," details Alberto Jurjo. "One of the most positive factors of this experience was having the possibility of being part, for several months, of an ecosystem of professionals, companies, organizations and institutions with a lot of experience in this segment, which was new to us," he comments.

The company, which recently won the first edition of the Mindtech Startup Event, in the category of Energy Efficiency and Environmental Impact Reduction, is currently in the process of attracting investment partners to consolidate the business bet, while they plan to market new products and technological solutions in different industrial sectors, along with the entry into different international markets.
