The Xunta is promoting renewable thermal energy
With the aim of encouraging renewable energies and reducing energy demands from public buildings and infrastructures, as well as dependence on fossil fuels, the Xunta, via the Galician Energy Institute (Inega), has launched the application period for local administrations and public and private non-profit organisations to access support for the installation of thermal renewable energies.
The aim is not only to reduce energy costs and improve the quality of life linked to environmental care, but also to contribute to economic dynamism and a cultural change necessary to address the energy transition in all fields.
With a budget of 2.3 million euros, the call for applications aims to support projects that use biomass, geothermal, hydrothermal, aerothermal and solar thermal energy.
The grants are awarded on a non-competitive basis with a maximum aid intensity of 70% and must be submitted electronically.
This line is in addition to the increase, which was approved last June, of the budget of the call for applications aimed at companies for the use of the same type of renewable sources. The subsidies are 35% in the case of large companies, 40% for medium-sized companies and 45% in the case of small companies.
In this way, the Galician Administration has 14.6 million euros in total to continue to promote the use of environmentally friendly energies that allow significant economic savings. These grants are expected to raise 33.4 million euros, to promote annual savings of 95,000 MWh/year, to reduce CO2 emissions equivalent to the planting of 1,350,000 trees and to reduce electricity payments by 3.6 million euros per year.
Both calls for applications are open until 2 January 2024.
