More sustainable, innovative and digital: the future of Tecnópole
Opened in 1992 and located in San Cibrao das Viñas (Ourense), the Parque Tecnológico de Galicia - Tecnópole currently houses more than a hundred companies, amounting to a total of 1,500 professionals.
Its Strategic Plan until 2025 is the roadmap which defines the future and strategy of the Park for the years ahead, with the aim of continuing to be a benchmark for the most technological and innovative companies.
Occupying space
Under the first strategic pillar, related to the use of space, progress will be made in the recovery of the incubation building of the former Ourense Chamber of Commerce. Furthermore, new spaces will be planned to allow medium-sized companies to grow, by means of 500 m2 modules for rent, interconnected and with common services. Another proposal is the creation of a tent for wooden events, with the support of the Galician Forest Industry Agency - Xera.
Business development
In this area, Tecnópole is considering several actions for the immediate future. Among them is the promotion of innovative projects such as the future Galician Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence to be set up in the Park, which will contribute to strengthening cybersecurity in public administration, citizens and companies, while promoting the development of specialised talent in this field. It is expected to be operational by mid-2025.
In addition, the Park has a space devoted to promoting viable business ideas, where entrepreneurs receive help with the validation of their business model, as well as with the development of the essential skills to start it up. Tecnópole also works with the INCUVI Programme of the University of Vigo to host university entrepreneurship projects. What's more, together with Igape and AJE Ourense, Tecnópole has created the first Virtual Industrial Park of Galicia, which will allow offering high added value services in the field of digitalisation to up to 300 beneficiaries. On the other hand, the second edition of the acceleration programme for the internationalisation of innovative Galician SMEs "Galicia Avanza" is under way.
In addition to all of the above, the Park has unique infrastructures to support business development. Particularly noteworthy is the Centre for experimental surgery and training in minimally invasive techniques -Tecmeva-, which will be promoted thanks to the agreement between the Sergas and the Galician Agency for Knowledge Management in Health (ACIS), which will use its facilities for teaching, research and dissemination of new surgical techniques, together with the development of biomedical research projects and procedures for the development of new therapeutic and diagnostic techniques.
Sustainability
Tecnópole is going to house the first Galician business energy community, coordinated by the Galician Energy Institute. In addition to reducing consumption, companies will be made more competitive.
Work is also being done on the development of a sustainable mobility plan. In this line, a new carsharing service has already been launched as a result of an agreement between the City Council and the San Cibrao industrial estate.
Innovation and transfer of technology
Tecnópole is aligned with Galicia's RIS3 Strategy. Likewise, an Advisory Council for the Park will be created to reinforce the links with the three Galician universities, in order to support the technological transfer to the companies and the creation of business initiatives that arise in the university environment. And an innovation diagnosis service will be set up for resident companies.
Training and communication
Under the brand "Tecnópole Divulga", the Park has gathered all its scientific and technological dissemination activities addressed to future generations: the scientific fair Galiciencia, the Newton classroom, the Tecnópole Classrooms and the technological summer camp T2W; together with the participation in the project "Science and Technology in feminine", in partnership with the Association of Scientific and Technology Parks of Spain -APTE.
In addition, the Park has renewed its corporate image and its web page, which will be introducing new features in the coming months.
