Elmega, tailor-made solutions for livestock farms
Elmega's success story and the technological evolution of the dairy industry can be summed up in the milk cooling heat exchanger, the product they designed 30 years ago that revolutionised the production process of small dairy farms. They currently export to more than 40 countries around the world.
Elmega has followed a path of innovation and evolution, not only in the adaptation and improvement of this initial product, but also in the development of a wide range of products and customised solutions for livestock farms all over the world, such as the design and configuration of the barns, milking and milk cooling systems and slurry treatment, guaranteeing the complete operation of the livestock farm.
Elmega prides itself on its location in the heart of the Xallas region, in Santa Comba, one of the most important livestock farming areas in Galicia, which has allowed it to be in contact with the producers since it was created in 1976 and to understand their needs and concerns. This is the main competitive advantage of the company, whose products are sold in more than 40 countries around the world.
"The end customer is fully involved in the design and manufacturing process. When we design a product, we always take into account the requirements and needs of the farmers. Once a new prototype is ready, we test it on a real farm," explains Soraya Otero, Elmega's export area manager.
Innovation at the service of livestock farming
Elmega uses state-of-the-art technology in all its production processes and its machinery is constantly being renewed to maintain the competitive level required in the sector.
"The main benefit our products bring to farms is comfort and quality of life. Our fully automated products help to make the farmer's work much more comfortable and bearable, improving the quality of life, without ever forgetting the comfort and safety of the animals," says Soraya Otero.
Enterprising city councils
Santa Comba is one of Galicia's 153 entrepreneurial city councils. These municipalities have more tax incentives, administrative simplification and easier access to industrial land for companies and entrepreneurs.
The Regional Government of Galicia provides support to companies, self-employed people or non-profit organisations, aimed at the implementation and operation of business initiatives in Galicia, whose projects are developed in an enterprising city council.
