The Xunta de Galicia, in line with its commitment to strengthen the business fabric of the community, supports the development of five new open and shared-use infrastructure projects with an expected investment of 10 million euros, of which it will provide more than 8 million.

These infrastructures, three Advanced Manufacturing Centers and two Digital Centers, seek to bring innovative services and products to the self-employed and SMEs in Galicia, making available to them technologies and resources to which they would otherwise not be eligible due to the high investment costs involved.

The implementation of these centers is planned not only to improve the competitiveness of the Galician business fabric through access to cutting-edge services, but also to foster innovation and collaboration between sectors. These projects represent a significant step towards the digital transformation of Galicia, promoting its economic and technological development.

Cutting-edge services within reach of any self-employed person or SME in Galicia

The advanced audiovisual production center in the Cidade das TIC in A Coruña will have state-of-the-art filming studios and services for the Galician audiovisual industry. This space, in addition to facilitating access to advanced technologies for local producers, will boost creativity and the production of high quality content.

A complementary facility to the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the Cidade das TIC is also among the initiatives and will focus on offering services for demonstration, prototyping and launching of projects based on artificial intelligence. This infrastructure is designed to accelerate the adoption of AI in the Galician business fabric, promoting innovation and the development of new applications and services.

The third advanced manufacturing center, to be located in the Vigo area, is focused on the development and certification of satellite components and will undoubtedly be a milestone in the Galician space industry. With facilities prepared to simulate space conditions, the center will offer essential services for the certification of satellite technologies and the development of electric propulsion technologies, opening up new business and collaboration opportunities in the aerospace sector.

The Digital Centers are established with two main objectives: on the one hand, to improve connectivity throughout the region and, on the other, to facilitate the digital transformation of companies, especially in emerging sectors and SMEs.

The first of these centers is the creation of Galicia's first neutral point of connectivity in Santiago, a vital project to improve the region's telecommunications infrastructure, providing a platform that significantly enhances the digital experience for businesses and consumers alike. By providing faster and more reliable access to the Internet, this neutral point is an essential step towards removing digital barriers, especially in rural and remote areas, thus promoting greater digital and economic inclusion.

The second project involves the implementation of a digital center specialized in monitoring, remote production and video analysis, located in the Cidade das TIC. The center will focus on offering advanced services that enable Galician companies to adopt and take advantage of the latest technologies in data analysis and digital content production. This type of infrastructure is crucial for companies looking to expand their online presence and improve their digital marketing and communication capabilities, thus offering new opportunities to innovate in the way they connect with their audience.

With the implementation of these five new shared-use infrastructure projects, which address both the physical infrastructure necessary for connectivity and the digital capabilities for business innovation, the Xunta evidences its commitment to digital transformation and innovation in Galicia, as well as its goal of positioning Galicia as a leading community in the digital economy by promoting strategic sectors such as ICT, tourism, health, logistics, biotechnology and agri-food.

The strategy adopted by the Xunta seeks, in addition to leveraging the community's existing strengths, to discover new opportunities for growth, fostering cross-innovation and the development of integrated solutions through the creation of synergies between different areas of activity. In particular, the Digital Centers are aligned with the objectives of the Just Transition Fund, seeking to ensure that the digital transformation benefits the entire Galician society, reducing the digital divide, especially in rural areas and among SMEs, towards a more digitized and inclusive economy.
