From its beginnings in the 1940s to become the company it is today, with an annual turnover of more than one million euros, Conservas A Rosaleira has proven to be a model of business adaptation and survival, with a history that is interwoven with that of the community of O Rosal and the innovative drive of its founder, José Sánchez García.

Conservas A Rosaleira was founded in 1940 in the Pontevedra region of O Rosal by José Sánchez García. Initially, this business venture was born out of a passion for agriculture and education, teaching young people how to grow vegetables and fruits that were then rare in the region, such as tomatoes and zucchini. Over time, this agricultural practice was transformed into a pioneering vegetable canning factory in Galicia, a thriving business that adapted to the changing times.

Since its inception, the company has maintained the founder's commitment to the quality and naturalness of its products. This commitment was reinforced with the entry of Terras Gauda into the company in 2007, increasing the cannery's financial capacity and commercial expansion.

Conservas A Rosaleira stands out not only for its Galician Protected Geographical Indication turnip greens, which account for 80% of its sales, but also for a diverse range of canned products ranging from natural tomatoes and mirabelles in syrup to fabas de Lourenzá and potatoes, also with the IXP pataca de Galicia distinction. The adoption of modern agricultural practices and collaboration with local farmers underline its commitment to sustainability and quality, endorsed by the Galicia Calidade seal.

Organic products for conscientious consumers

The company's vision extends beyond tradition, embracing innovation with the introduction of its new organic product line and the expansion of its portfolio to reduce dependence on a single crop.

The focus on additive-free products, reflected even in its manual production processes, responds to growing consumer demand for healthy, authentic foods that retain all their natural flavor and properties.

Innovation is also reflected in the collaboration with other key companies in the Galician food industry, such as Coren, with which they have been marketing since 2019 canned lacón con grelos, a dish cooked with A Rosaleira turnip greens and potatoes of the Kennebec variety and pork fed with Galician chestnuts.

Conservas A Rosaleira's current strategy evidences a clear focus on expansion and recognition in national and international markets. With sales of around one million euros per year, the company remains firm in its mission to bring the best of Galicia to the tables of the less conformist palates and more concerned about healthy and sustainable food.

Conservas A Rosaleira has been able to combine tradition and innovation without losing sight of its essence: the quality and authenticity of its products. In a constantly changing market, Conservas A Rosaleira remains a symbol of resilience and adaptability.
