The Trade Missions Plan 2024 of the Xunta de Galicia is launched with an investment of 2.3 million euros to promote the internationalization of Galician companies.
With the objective of realizing approximately 100 projects in more than 30 countries throughout this year, the program, promoted by the Xunta de Galicia in collaboration with the Galician Chambers of Commerce, has as its main purpose to support the international expansion of the business fabric of the region.
The plan includes two lines, one aimed at SMEs, which covers more than 80% of the total budget, and the other aimed at large companies, so that they can contribute their experience and size to enhance the effect of the missions as a tractor agent.
The deadline for the chambers of commerce, as collaborating entities adhered to the agreement, to request the inclusion of the actions to be carried out in the program's calendar began on March 15. Once the requests have been made, each chamber will be able to convene and open registration so that interested companies can participate.
On the basis that each company can participate in more than one action, the objective is to reach 500 participations of SMEs in the promotion actions, improving their image in international markets and increasing the diversity and global presence of Galician companies in the world. All the actions are aimed at increasing the number of exporting companies, promoting and consolidating the presence of Galician companies in international markets and achieving a greater diversification, both sectorial and geographical, of Galician exports, offering financial support that can cover up to 90% of the costs for SMEs and up to 70% for large companies.
The program foresees for this call more than 30 priority markets for commercial action among which are China, India, Israel, Japan, United Kingdom, Germany, Morocco, Brazil, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, United States or Canada, as well as other countries for which the suitability of the market for Galician companies is justified.
With an investment of more than 12 million euros since 2014 for these activities, the Trade Missions Plan has achieved an average annual participation of more than 170 SMEs, extending its reach to 70 different countries. This effort is part of the Galician Government's Internationalization Strategy, which has been a determining factor for Galicia to register an all-time record in exports in 2023, exceeding 30 billion euros.
