The Galician startup that boosts technological talent

Through online training, HACK A BOSS trains new professional profiles to meet new market demands in areas such as web programming, data analysis, artificial intelligence or cybersecurity.

HACK A BOSS is a company from A Coruña founded in 2018 dedicated to the so-called TalenTech: find, generate and develop technological talent to respond to the market demand for this type of profiles.

"HACK A BOSS was born in a 35 meters apartment in the iconic Galera street in A Coruña, right in front of the apartment of its CEO and founder, Pablo Rodriguez Gonzalez. All the office furniture was second hand and the founding team consisted of 4 people, plus the CEO. The initial idea of the business was to invoice with a software we already had and later become an incubator to create projects and support others", explains Alejandro Manzanares, content specialist at the company. In the search for developers for this initial idea, they found it difficult to find this type of profile. This is how the current line of business of HACK A BOSS was born, betting on training in bootcamp format, a term that defines intensive courses designed to train students in the necessary skills to start working immediately.

They currently have two lines of business: one focused on training new talent and the other, aimed at companies, focused on recruitment services.

HACK A BOSS trainings are remote, which allows them to reach the entire national territory, and the classes are developed live, allowing interaction with students and the resolution of doubts in real time, recreating an experience similar to that of going to a classroom.

"We train them to start from scratch in the tech sector, in areas such as web programming, data science and artificial intelligence, data analytics and cybersecurity," he says. In fact, HACK A BOSS is the only tech bootcamps company that offers lifetime talent upgrades through the so-called Boost Academy, where students can access more than 300 technical and soft skills trainings (those related to how a person relates and interacts with others) for free forever to upskill them and propel them to achieve their career goals.

"Our methodology is called learning by doing. It is based on learning by doing. Students attend theoretical and practical classes where they put all their knowledge to the test. They also develop projects based on real work environments to bring them closer to the work environment they will enter," explains Alejandro.

So far, they have already trained more than 1,300 people with very heterogeneous profiles. "As these are training courses to start from scratch, we are usually an option for people who want to change their professional sector. There are people who come from sales, hotel and catering, laborers, dance teachers, teleoperators, the health sector, transport, marketing... And, of course, professionals from the technology sector who find in our training courses the opportunity to acquire new skills to move up within their companies," he explains.

HACK A BOSS is ranked #5 on the LinkedIn Top Startups 2023 platform. Last year, they doubled their turnover for the third consecutive year. In addition, they have grown from 25 employees in 2022 to more than 75 in 2023. "We don't know the key to success, what we can say is that we have come this far because we put people at the center: employees, collaborators, customers, teachers, students.... We are dedicated to designing quality products that solve the problems of the market, companies and people. And of course, with a lot of hard work," says Alejandro Manzanares. HACK A BOSS stands out, in fact, for the multiple social benefits it offers its staff and for having introduced the 4-hour work week. "Our philosophy is based on having happy employees, to have a team committed to the objectives. We offer all these benefits by the will of the company. We started the 4-day work week more than two years ago. We did it and we maintain it because we believe that people should rest more, enjoy more and reconcile more in order to be more productive, efficient and creative," he says.

Like any startup, they are constantly evolving with the aim of consolidating themselves as the bootcamp with the best and most complete training program and aspiring to cover, in addition, the entire value chain of technological talent, from people starting from scratch to the most senior. In the agenda of upcoming challenges, they want to continue to focus on the communication of what they do; further improve the programs they already have, continue to promote the Boost Academy; and combine their training experience and their ability to generate, manage and recruit technological talent and provide service to companies.

"Galicia is a great technological hub, there are many projects, companies, large and small and, above all, very valuable human talent for the industry. In Galicia we have everything to compete with any large city in Spain or the world. That is our commitment: to collaborate, support and grow together. Working as a team is the best way to go, and we know that very well at HACK A BOSS. We started as a small company that collaborated and collaborates with multinational giants such as Sofftek (Mexican) or NTT DATA (Japanese)", he concludes.
