TOURIST LODGINGS
This catalogue covers tourist lodgings, understood to be establishments that offer accommodation on a per-occupancy basis, mainly in multi-capacity rooms, with or without complementary services.
Depending on their characteristics, hostels are classified into three categories: first-class hostels, second-class hostels and pilgrims' hostels on the Pilgrims' Route to Santiago de Compostela.
This catalogue excludes the following:
- Publicly owned pilgrims' hostels.
- Youth hostels integrated in a youth hostel network.
- Establishments providing accommodation in shared rooms for school, educational or social purposes.
BEFORE STARTING THE PROCEDURES...
Before starting the procedures, it is recommended that the promoter request a prior report from the regional area of the Galician Tourism Agency where the establishment is to be located in order to ensure that the minimum necessary requirements are met.
To open a tourist lodging, it is necessary to present a declaration of responsibility on the part of the promoter in which they state that they comply with the requirements set out in the tourism regulations for the intended classification and that they are committed to maintaining them for the duration of the activity.
This declaration enables the commencement of business activities from the day of presentation and implies the ex officio registration of the hostel in the Register of Tourist Businesses and Activities of the Autonomous Community of Galicia.
Subsequently, the administration will carry out the necessary controls and inspections regarding the truthfulness of the declared data and will issue the corresponding resolution.
